Climate change is currently one of the most important and most discussed problems facing mankind. Whether coal phase-out or Fridays for Future movement: The topic is present in the media and in research like never before.

Parallel to the MOSAiC expedition of the research vessel POLARSTERN, the largest expedition to date to explore the northern polar region, the German Maritime Museum presents the special exhibition SEA CHANGES as well as the corresponding multimedia screening NORTHERN LIGHTS.

The exhibition is based on an idea by Helmut M. Bien (Westermann Kulturprojekte) who guided the project in matters of concept and design and worked in close cooperation with the team of the Museum.

The multimedia installation augmenting the exhibition building was developed by Westermann Kulturprojekte in cooperation with the media artist Kurt Laurenz Theinert.
